He remembers running through fields for miles and miles as Lotus Pier burned. He remembers night turning to day. Somehow, he'd kept moving. Nothing had felt real even as he knew it was all so painfully real. (There'd still been ash in his mouth, in his hair, in his clothes.) His heart gives a pang and he swallows over a sudden lump in his throat.
