Finn looks back at him for a moment, a dozen thoughts rifling past. The stillness around them was enveloping, adding heft to the moment, making it feel like the rest of the world was asleep, or simply didn’t exist. His gaze wavers, down and away from Jake’s face.
“Yeah, I know…” He puts a hand on his head, shrugging a little, his discomfort plain. There were so many things that they could talk about with no problem…Finn talked to him about most things big and small in his life. He didn’t understand why this one thing was so hard. “Things got really bad out there, and I…didn’t think you would want to know.”
That was neither fair, nor accurate, and he realizes it immediately. Finn’s expression contorts into a self-annoyed frown, hand on his head closing to a fist.
